Horsehead and Flame Nebula The Horsehead and Flame Nebulae in Orion are a part of the vast Orion nebular complex. The Flame’s source of energy is the brightest star in the frame, Alnitak. The reflection nebula to the lower right is NGC2023, a 4 light year wide molecular hydrogen cloud.
